In this modern world, coffee is one of the most popular and common beverages which helps people to stay alert and prevent many of the health problems. Pottery coffee mugs are most popular and common coffee mugs which are used in almost every family. These mugs are usually manufactured using fire clay with the help of hands. The two most important methods used in manufacturing of these mugs are pottery wheel and slip casting method. Clay extruder, brushes, potter’s kiln, moulds and ribbon cutter are some important tools which are used in manufacturing of coffee mugs.
Pottery wheel method generally requires potter’s wheel machine which helps in providing definite shape to the ceramic wares. In potter’s wheel machine, workers usually use their hand during the rotation of wheel to provide a round shape to the ceramic wares.
Slip casting method is used in the formation of ceramic wares and many other products by forming powder of ceramic raw materials. This method is usually used for obtaining quality surfaces, dimensionless stability, density and uniformity.
Types of clay used in pottery

- Ball clay – Ball clay can be characterized by its excessive shrinkage property when placed in fire. Ball clay is the composition of kaolinite, quartz, mica and other carbonaceous materials.
- Fire clay – Fire clay has the ability to withstand higher temperature (approx 1500 degree Celsius). Fire clay is usually the composition of wide varieties of minerals.
